What is a protective phone case?

The first cell phones didn't need a protective case because they were so bulky they could barely be called cell phones!

Over time, phones have become smaller, more fragile and more expensive, so it has become necessary to provide an extra layer of protection against any unfortunate escapades.

How do they work?

Phone cases are designed to absorb shock from any impact your phone may encounter with hard surfaces and also provide protection against scratches.

Since accidents aren't planned, the most effective cases cover the corners, edges, and back of your phone.

Are phone cases necessary?

Not only are phones expensive to buy, they are also extremely costly to the environment.

Most of a smartphone's environmental impact comes from its manufacturing, primarily from the mining of precious metals and exotic materials.

In fact, for the same amount of CO2 emissions to build a new phone, you could power the one you have for around ten years.

So, from a personal and environmental perspective, it makes sense to treat your phone like the precious commodity it is and provide an extra layer of protection against damage.

This is where protective phone cases come in.

The average person will drop their phone on average about seven times a year.

Nearly half of phones broken by drops aren't repaired, so by protecting your phone, you're doing yourself and nature a favor.

What should you study before buying a phone case?

With so many phone case options available on the market, here are some things to consider when choosing one:

Compatibility:

Is the phone case the right size for your phone, will it interfere with functions like wireless charging or inserting headphones? If you are unsure, check with the manufacturer.

Protection:

How much protection do you need and will the case protect your phone and screen from those hair-raising drops? A case that covers the corners, edges and back of your phone is the best choice.

A good way to gauge protection capability is to read product reviews online or left by previous customers.

Getting started:

Phone cases add bulk to your phone and can make it harder to grip or fit in your pocket.

Additionally, are there any other useful features you might need, such as a kickstand?

Environmental impact :

Like phones, the manufacturing and disposal of phone cases also has an environmental impact.

Many options are plastic-based and made in factories with low environmental and ethical standards, which is obviously not ideal.

Aesthetic :

Perhaps the last thing to consider, but there's no harm in looking good, as long as style doesn't impact the above.

A plastic-free case with a negative carbon footprint

We have developed a robust rigid shell made from earth, FSC-certified sawdust and food waste (vegetables and cereals) unfit for consumption.

Each shell is 100% biodegradable and can be composted in your garden or in an industrial composter.

In fact, they decompose completely in around 1 year in a warm, humid and micro-organism friendly environment.

The iPhone protections are vegan and packaged in eco-responsible and biodegradable packaging made from recycled and recyclable cardboard.

Printing is done using a digital UV printer with specially formulated vegetable inks, certified by the Oeko-Tex Eco-passport, dried instantly using UV lamps (low temperature LED, more durable and economical, which do not need any warm-up time to dry the ink, saving time and energy).

Our factories are all equipped with effluent treatment plants which eliminate toxic substances present in the water and thus allow its reuse.

We can be proud to announce that our case has a positive impact on the climate, meaning we offset more carbon than is produced during its manufacture.
